Former manager of Wolves and Real Madrid, Julian Lopetegui, has reportedly expressed interest in taking over at Manchester United and has specific player requests should he assume the role.
As per El Nacional reports, Lopetegui is eyeing Barcelona’s Ferran Torres and Alejandro Balde to strengthen the Manchester United squad. The Spaniard has laid out conditions for his potential move to the Red Devils, indicating that the signings of Torres and Balde are among his stipulations.
The 57-year-old manager is purportedly open to stepping in for current Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who faces mounting pressure following a challenging first half of the season. Ten Hag’s team currently languishes in 8th place in the Premier League standings, and the club’s premature exit from this season’s Champions League has compounded their difficulties.
Lopetegui’s interest in the managerial position at Manchester United, coupled with his specific player preferences, suggests a potential overhaul and strategic approach should he take charge of the team in the near future.
